A bit of the bill RUN likes

The Regional Universities Network opposes Simon Birmingham’s HE bill, expected in the Senate today, “due to the negative impact it would have on regional universities, students and communities.” But last night RUN urged senators to support an amendment for a national regional higher education strategy.

“As anchor institutions for their regions, regional universities contribute to human and intellectual capital, research and innovation, global connectivity, regional solutions and exporting regional expertise,” RUN chair and University of the Sunshine Coast VC Greg Hill says. As it happens RUN is developing a framework for just such a strategy.
